Happiness is Homemade #385

I’m so glad that you are back with us this week for our Happiness is Homemade link party! Before we get to the party I’d like to share one of my posts from this past week with you.

It’s back to school time for the kids on the Gulf Coast. You’re probably thinking, “What?! That’s way to early!” I know, right?! They go back in four days, on Thursday! Every year I like to get a little gift to give to my son’s teachers, but I don’t have a lot of money to spend on it. My mom and Granny were teachers, and I know that they often run out of supplies during the year. Most of the time to replace them they have to use their own hard earned money. They don’t make enough money to have to do that! I also know they tend to get a lot of gifts that they don’t like or want, and they end up cluttering up their home or desk. So I decided the best gift for them is a basket full of supplies that they run out of throughout the year. I created an adorable free printable to attach to the basket to create the perfect back to school teacher’s gift. Go to that post to download and print that free tag.

Last year I found cutesy bottles of hand soap at Bath & Body works with kiddy hand drawn leaves and writing. I created free printables for you to print out and attach to your soap or hand sanitizer (perfect for this Covid era) with a ribbon or twine. Head to the post here to download and print that gift tag. I was forced to use a light yellow cardstock, but it looks better on white if you have it. If you don’t have any cardstock, you can just use regular paper. Just be gentle with it so it doesn’t get all creased up or torn before it gets to the teacher.

Fun Features this week

Welcome to our weekly Happiness is Homemade Link Party! It’s Linda from A Labour of Life, and it’s my turn to browse through our party and choose our features. August is all about end of summer fun, back to school planning and yes summer relaxation. Here bloggers come together to share their latest and their greatest posts with you, and where you can discover a lot of creative ideas that you will love! You will find the best recipes, crafts, do-it-yourself projects, home décor ideas, fashions and family fun.

My first feature will surprise no-one, lol. Yep a fun tablescape from Dining Delight I was excited to set a table that featured a wonderful cake. “When you set the table just for fun like I do, it is great to be able to include a food item that doesn’t have to be prepared in advance and won’t melt in the sun and this realistic faux cake is perfect for that!”

Keeping with the Lemon theme how adorable is this lemon slice crochet pillow from Sew Crafty Crochet. “today I’m sharing a Lemon Slice Pillow that I also made for the porch. I was inspired by this Pin of A Crafty Concept’s Crochet Lemon Pillow”.

I have been hooked on Smoothies this summer so my next selection was an obvious choice. Comfort Spring Station shared this amazing Pineapple Smoothie recipe.”Today’s recipe is an easy, quick drink made from 4 ingredients: frozen pineapple, frozen banana, coconut milk, and vanilla extract. I find that the combination is plenty sweet, but if you desire more, add a teaspoon of honey.”

Sticking to my apparent Yellow Theme this week is a tasty Banana Pudding Cheesecake from Organized Island.”This Banana Pudding Cheesecake has a simple homemade crust paired with a creamy and delicious cheesecake filling. This simple cheesecake dessert takes less than an hour of time to make”

Common Ground has taken us on a fun House Tour. Not sure why but I adore posts giving me a glimpse into how everyone lives. “this year I’ve been thankful for having a home and outside spaces that have been fun to decorate with flowers and plantings, to relax in, and basically get back to “living life”.”.

Special Feature

and jumping off the yellow theme I really had to share this beautiful wreath from Life as a LEO Wife.

Niki’s Feature

This week I have chosen these adorable DIY placemats made by Carol over at Comfort Springs Station. She used them as part of her farmhouse themed tablescape, and they look wonderful. She used aluminum wallpaper that she had left over from a lamp upcycle. She has inspired me to try to make my own DIY placemats, and I can’t wait to get started!
