Organize with Me: Spice Cabinet or Pantry

Today I’m going to be showing you how I organize my spice cabinet and a few pantry items with matching jars and canisters. It looks so beautiful, and now it’s so easy to find the item that I’m looking for! Let’s get into it.

Spice Cabinet or Pantry Organization Supplies:

  • box of 24 spice jars– I used a set of Savvy & Sorted set of 24 spice jars, 374 labels, metal funnel, shaker tops, as well as a grinder for pepper or sea salt. They come in round or rectangular, & they’re gorgeous!
  • larger matching jars for larger quantity items- I used this set of 6 glass jars with bamboo lids and spoons and 132 labels. There are 3 round and 3 square jars.
  • pretty canister set for flours and sugars for countertops or cabinets- I got this white set that came with 4 different sized canisters that can be nested together when not in use. They look beautiful on my countertops. I have a lot of counter space, so I leave them out as decor as well as for use. I linked a 6 set that looks the same until the 4 set that I used is restocked.

Before

On Wednesday’s Facebook video, Tammy of Patina and Paint and I shared how we store and organize our kitchen cooking utensils. That was supposed to be the entire video, but I don’t have a lot of matching utensils since I’m not someone who stays in the kitchen cooking a lot. I have been wanting to order a set of matching wood or silicone utensils, but until those come in, I didn’t have much to show in that area.

Next to the stove I have a ceramic utensil jar on an acacia wood tray that I keep the utensils I use a lot in. I used to have many matching wood utensils that stayed in there, but my family has lost them. Who even knows how?!

Then in a drawer below it, I have the rest of the utensils. I removed everything, cleaned the drawer and added a drawer liner. Then I replaced all of the utensils.

Since I didn’t have a lot to show in my utensil area, I thought that I would tackle the spice cabinet organization project that I had been planning. All of my spices, baking supplies, and teas are in the cabinet above the utensil jar, next to the stove. This was the cabinet before I began to organize that spice cabinet.

Spice Jar Organization

The Savvy & Sorted set of spice jars that I used has a beautiful look. It came with the option to use white or black labels.

All I needed to do after opening and washing each of the jars (and of course allowing them to dry, which I had done a few weeks ago), was to use the included funnel to pour my existing bottles of spice into the matching glass spice jars. The jars come with sifter tops in a separate envelope. I placed one on each jar after pouring the spice into it.

It was so hard to decide on whether to use the black or white labels, but after a family vote, we decided on the black ones.

Larger Glass Jars

Next, I started organizing some of the larger cooking and baking ingredients that are stored in that same spice cabinet. For this I used the 6 jar set. I will probably get one more box of those to put some nuts in that I had left over after the organization.

My son wanted to help, so he poured the bread crumbs into one of the square jars, added the bamboo spoon, and put the lid back on.

Other pantry items that I added to these glass jars were tea bags, chocolate kisses, baking powder, Cajun seasoning, pecans, and sweetener packets.

My larger quantity baking ingredients, like flour, sugar, corn meal, and brown sugar, went into the large canisters on the countertop.

Finished Spice Cabinet / Pantry Organization

When I put the jars into the cabinet, I kind of color-coded them on the bottom shelf. The oranges/bright browns went into the first row, greens in the next two, dark spices in the fourth, and lighter colors in the last two. I put the items that we use the most toward the front, and any duplicates were placed in the back. I placed the grinder and funnel together on the outside and liquids behind those.

Then the larger jars wen t on the second shelf. I had to use a small white label from the spice jar set on the Cajun seasoning because the large jar set didn’t come with one. They match well enough that it looks fine.

We are so happy with the way the spice cabinet / pantry organization turned out. It’s now so easy to find everything we need. Neither one of us has to empty the cabinet looking for the specific spice that we need now! It’s a big difference, isn’t it?! Hopefully this inspires you to organize your own pantry or spice cabinet!
