Ladies and gents, you’re here witnessing a first here on Life as a LEO Wife. Today I’m sharing the very first recipe to appear on the blog- crockpot steak sandwiches. Oh. My. Goodness. They are so good! On top of that, you only need five ingredients, and it will take you less than five minutes to prep everything in the morning! Let’s get started because you’re going to want to add this to your repertoire today!
Ingredients for Crockpot steak sandwiches:
- 2-3lb tender chuck roast
- 10.5oz can of beef consommé
- 10.5oz can of French onion soup
- 2 tbs Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 tsp minced garlic
After your steak is prepared you’ll need a few things for the sandwiches:
- sub rolls- We usually use the sesame seed sub rolls.
- sliced provolone cheese

Prep Work
This is a meal that you can throw together in less than five minutes in the morning while you’re rushing here and there, chasing kids, answering, “Honey, where’s my tie?” It takes almost no thought. Who needs that when we’re all so busy in the morning?! Not me!
It’s literally, open, pour, lid on, turn the knob. That’s it! No let’s do it!
Place your chuck roast in the Crockpot and use a fork to poke holes throughout to allow the seasonings to penetrate the meat.

Add 1/2 teaspoon of minced garlic onto the meat.

Once you’ve spread the garlic over the roast, pour in your Worcestershire sauce. I just kind of eye it, but I would guess it would be about two tablespoons.

Next, pour the beef consomme and the French onion soup over the soon to be yummy steak sandwiches.

Turn the Crockpot on high and cook for 4 hours if you’d like to slice the meat or 5 hours if you’d like to shred the meat. I prefer to shred the steak. My family likes it better that way and I do too.
If you need to leave it for the entire day, you could probably turn it on low for 8 hours, but I’ve never tried it myself.
Make the Sandwiches
When the roast is done, remove it from the Crockpot and place it on a cutting board. After 5 hours it shreds incredibly east with forks. If you prefer, slice it for sandwiches.
Sorry, I didn’t get photos of the shredding, but I know you know how to do that!
Place the meat back into the liquid.
Slice your sub rolls and place sliced provolone cheese on the bottom side. I tear each piece in half and place it on the bun so that the entire thing is covered.

Next use a serving fork to take the shredded steak from the Crockpot and place it over the cheese. That will help melt the cheese. Yum!!
If you’d like, scoop some of the au jus from the Crockpot and place it in a small bowl on the side of your plate for dipping.
Now enjoy your positively delicious, easy Crockpot sandwiches!

This steak sandwich just melts in your mouth. While it’s cooking all of our mouths are absolutely watering, counting down the hours until it’s ready!
Let me know when you try it and what you think! You could always add some onions or mushrooms if you’re feeling adventurous.
