Hello, my friends, and welcome to Craft with Us Wednesday! This Wednesday Tammy of Patina and Paint and I are bringing you a thrifted item that we have given new life. A few months ago, I got a large gold 70’s or 80’s lamp from Goodwill. Today this thrift store lamp is getting an upcycle or makeover into a large candlestick holder that I will use in my Halloween decor, but it could actually be used anytime and made to fit into your home decor. Let’s get started!

Lamp to Candlestick Upcycle Supplies:
- large metal lamp
- spray paint
- Quick Grip (or E6000, I just find Quick Grip to work so much better)
- tapered candle or
- dish to glue on top for larger candle

Clean & Disassemble the Lamp
First, remove the price tag from the lamp if needed, the clean it thoroughly. I used soap and water.

Someone had rewired the lamp that I bought, so I used wire cutters to cut the wires from the button and cut and removed the wire from the main part of the lamp.

Spray Paint the Lamp
Once the lamp is dry, spray paint it in whatever color you choose. I used flat black since I’m using this in my Halloween decor.

If needed, spray paint it with a second coat. It’s always best to seal it if you’re using a flat color. I didn’t have time yet, but I will do this tomorrow.
Assemble the Lamp
Since I removed the post with the extra pieces, I needed to glue the three pieces of my lamp together. If you didn’t have to remove pieces, you can just reassemble your lamp (which is almost finished in the upcycle process!).

And that’s it! My thrift store lamp upcycle is complete!
What do you think? I really like the way it looks with my Halloween decor. I will be moving it over to my ladder shelf area once I decorate it for Halloween. This lamp, with the candle in it, is about 3′ tall, which I love!
