I am now on the way to completing my summer tiered-tray items. I saw some trays that had little scrolls with beachy phrases on them. I decided to try to make my own. I wasn’t really sure how to at first. My first attempt to do this is what I’ll share with you today. I am getting back-logged so bad with making things and posting them the same day with the A to Z Challenge. I’m not complaining, I love it!
The first thought I had was having my Cricut write on cardstock, cut it to size, and gluing wood beads on the ends.
To make your own you need:
- cardstock paper
- wood beads
- Cricut or pen to write on the page
Pick a statement and write it.
I used my Cricut to cut and write on my cardstock. If you don’t have one, writing on paper is will work perfectly as well. I used “beach bum” and “vitamin seas” as the terms for my scrolls. If you’d like to use your Cricut to write on the page, use this tutorial to do so. The tutorial is to write on envelopes, but you will use the same process for the scrolls.

If you are writing them, cut your cardstock to the length you’d like your scroll to be. Mine were cut at 6″ and 4″ long and about 3″ wide. Don’t do that. It doesn’t roll well. You can see that in the pic below. I will be cutting mine 8″ and 10″ long tomorrow. Measure your paper and write the quote at the 4″ mark for the 8″ long scroll. You’ll want to write at the halfway point of your scroll. That will have the quote in the front and centered on the scroll.
Roll the scroll.
Roll the scroll into a tube shape like a toilet paper roll. Place a line of hot glue where the paper overlaps. Squeeze hot glue on the edges of the wood beads, and place one on each end of the scroll. I’m going to have to get bigger wood beads for my wider scrolls.

That’s it! Easy as that. I think I’ll like the wider scrolls better. I will update you tomorrow. If you have a better ideas for the wood beads, please let me know below. I don’t want to go find 4″ wide beads lol.
This has been letter T for tiered-tray in the bloggers’ A to Z Challenge. Come back tomorrow for U! See you then!
