Hello friends! I’m so glad to be back blogging and creating this week after surgery last week. Boy, am I glad that’s over because I’ve missed y’all (and being able to eat, ha!). With spring in full swing and Easter past, I felt like it’s time to create a new wreath. I have lots of embroidery hoops laying around, so I decided to create my first embroidery hoop pocket wreath. Let me show you how to make your own in about thirty minutes!

It’s time for our monthly Creative Craft Hop hosted by Sara of Birds of a Feather and Donna of Modern on Monticello. If you’re coming over from Ann at Apple Street Cottage, welcome! Wasn’t her wine bottle refresh neat? Stick around after the embroidery hoop pocket wreath tutorial, and I will send you on to the next stop on our hop. You don’t want to miss the great ideas shared this month.

Supplies for an embroidery hoop pocket wreath:
- fabric or old sweater
- embroidery hoop- I used one from this 8″ pack on Amazon.
- scissors
- hot glue gun & glue
- 2.5″ wired ribbon
- twine
- faux florals & greenery- I cut apart a bouquet with closed peonies in these Amazon bunches, greenery from Hobby Lobby that looks similar to lamb’s ear but more pointed, and a purple large peony. These lamb’s ear stems are a great option to use because you will have so many to use for other projects at such an affordable price. These peonies are nice as well if you’d like to order all of your flowers for delivery.

Create a Pocket on the Embroidery Hoop
To make my pocket, I used an old robin’s egg blue sweater that I got to use for scrap fabric from the thrift store during the fall. You can use any fabric that you have laying around or purchase some. It needs to be wide enough to create a pocket by going across the embroidery hoop and back and cover 4″ or so on an 8″ hoop wreath.
Take apart the two embroidery hoops to begin.

Since I used a sweater, I already had a seam on one side of it, so I slipped it on the inner ring of the embroidery hoop.

Place the top embroidery hoop over the top of the sweater or fabric and tighten the screw.

Cut off the excess fabric from around the embroidery hoop pocket. You don’t have to get extremely close right now.

Next, hot glue the edges of the fabric/sweater to the back of the embroidery hoop wreath to finish the pocket. Then you can cut off the excess fabric as close to the wood as possible.

Add Florals & Greenery to the Pocket
Now we turn to filling the pocket of our embroidery hoop wreath. In the end I used greenery from Hobby Lobby that looks like lamb’s ear but is more pointed, one large purple peony, and small, closed ivory peonies.
Just place your flowers and greenery in the pocket of your embroidery hoop wreath until you’re happy with the look.

Embellish the Embroidery Hoop Pocket Wreath
To finish up my embroidery hoop pocket wreath, I added a simple bow and a twine hanger around the screw on top.
Make a simple four-loop bow and dove-tail the ends. To cover the small piece of pipe cleaner I secured my bow with, I hot glued tan and white twine over it.

Finally, I hot glued a little of the same twine around the screw and created a little loop to hang my embroidery hoop pocket wreath.

That’s it! Your embroidery hoop pocket wreath is complete!
I absolutely love the way this little wreath turned out!

Thank you, Cara! Any old fabric will do. I almost used curtains that had a hole, but the sweater matched the ribbon for the bow better!
