Merry Christmas, my friends! For the past few weeks, I’ve been teaming up with Tammy at Patina and Paint and Terrie at Decorate and More with Tip decorating our home, space by space, room by room via video on Facebook as well as on our blogs. We shared our Christmas mantle decor ideas last week, so today I’m sharing that decor with you here on the blog. Let’s dive right in!

As you may remember from my fall mantle and Halloween mantle, I do not have a fireplace. It rarely drops below 50° on the Gulf Coast, and when it does, it’s for less than 20 days a year, so fireplaces are kind of pointless down here. (Though I would love one!) I always wanted to decorate a mantle, so when we moved into our new home, I mounted our TV on the wall and placed a sofa table underneath it. Now I decorate that area as a mantle for every season.
If you don’t have a fireplace mantle, you can use a thin table like I do. Another option is to hang a long shelf like my friend Teresa from Through a Vintage Door does. You could also buy a faux fireplace. They have gotten quite nice in recent years. This one on Amazon is beautiful and is pretty affordable compared to putting in a fireplace! There are also fireplace surrounds with a mantle that you can purchase, which I’ve seen people do and place wood inside, kind of DIYing a faux fireplace look in the center.
Faux Christmas Mantle Top Shelf Decor
My Christmas theme this year is Scottish tartan plaid with a color palette of red, hunter green, and cobalt blue, so those are the colors and patterns used in my Christmas mantle decor. You can learn more about that in my Christmas theme planning post.
On the top of the faux mantle, I placed a large “Merry Christmas” sign from Hobby Lobby in the center.

I wanted each side of my Christmas mantle to be pretty even. I added this gold reindeer with geometric angles, which is standing, and its set mate, which is lying down, in from of the sign, one on the left end and one on the right end. These are very pretty and quite heavy.

Then to each side of the sign on the mantle, I added glass Christmas trees from Hobby Lobby.

Finally, I got these beautiful potted Christmas trees that came with tree trunk type pots with greenery and red ball ornaments to place in them. In order for me to have some of my cobalt blue that runs throughout the Scottish tartan plaid that I’m using this year, I placed cobalt velvet ball picks in each one of them. I added one to each end of the “mantle.”

Bottom Shelf of the Faux Mantle
Now it’s time to move on to the bottom shelf on the Christmas mantle.
On the left side I placed my regular decor basket with a red and white houndstooth throw and a plaid pillow inside. These are the Scottish tartan plaid pillow covers that I used on my couch. They have a snowflake on one side and the other is just plaid, so I flip them to the back to show the plain side. I tucked fir and berry stems under the pillow then antlers under each side of the blanket. They were held in place nicely by the edge of the basket and the weight of the blanket.

To cover the large white plug where the TV wires run inside the wall and come out, I placed a large “Christmas trees” sign that I got last year from Dollar Tree.
At the right end of the Christmas mantle I added some beautiful tree decor candles that are chiseled like Christmas trees made with real wax. They are faux candles that operate on a timer and a remote with several different lighting options. I placed the candles in 2 of my black candlestick holders from a set of 6. In front of them I added a white flock reindeer with a fur cobalt collar to add some blue to the bottom shelf.

Finally, I added my faux birch logs to the center in front of the long sign. I found a small bundle of faux birch logs at Michael’s, and they were over $30! I made mine for under $3!

Garland & Embellishments
I have Command hooks on the sides of my faux mantle, and I hooked an olive leaf and white berry Christmas garland on it. This garland is perfect for this area as it isn’t too thick and won’t cover up any of my decor.

I found some lovely reindeer antlers at Hobby Lobby that are actually very large ornaments. Before I saw them, I had some antler picks in my cart, but this set of 4 was much cheaper, so I put the picks back and got the set. I wanted to add them to my Christmas mantle, so I looped them through the garland at the corner of each end of table. They look fabulous!

Now my Christmas mantle decor is complete!
That’s it! What do you think? I absolutely love the way it turned out! My mantle looks fabulous next to my Scottish tartan plaid Christmas entryway, if I do say so myself!

I’m sorry that I haven’t been posting as often as I normally do. I had some pretty serious health issues going on, but I’m back and hope to stay well for a while! I’ll be posting my Christmas coffee table and end table, our kids’ bathroom, and our master bedroom this week to catch up. If you would like to see them now, head over to Facebook where you can see my videos of me decorating each of those spaces.
