Happiness is Homemade #425

Welcome to Happiness is Homemade! We have a new co-hostess joining the team, Allyson from Southern Sunflowers! She will be choosing our features for the month of May. We’re so glad to have her on board. But before we get to this week’s features, let’s check out what’s been going on here on the blog over the past few days. Be sure to head over and link up on Crafty Creators before you go!

Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and I shared a few DIY gift ideas this week. This DIY door hanger was so easy to make from a Dollar Tee sign. In the tutorial I included the free SVG design that I used on my mom’s sign, “Grandkids Welcome (parents by appointment only).” By the way, due to our move, I went ahead and delivered it to her, and she loved it! It’s already hanging on her door, so I can definitely say this is a mom-approved gift!

Next, I created a tutorial to show you how to turn your child’s drawing or handwritten note into a special, customized gift that you can cut with your Cricut. You can cut it in vinyl and place it on anything: a canvas, mug, tumbler, shirt, car tag, keychain, sign, and so much more! I placed my son’s note and handprint on a tumbler to give to his grandmother as a combination birthday/Mother’s Day gift. Think of all of the wonderful gifts that you can make and how special they will be to your loved ones or even to make for yourself to memorialize your child’s youth forever!

I’ve got some more great home decor posts, more DIY Mother’s Day and end of the year teacher’s gift ideas with free printables upcoming, so make sure you don’t miss them by following me on social media and email. This Week’s Features

Welcome to Happiness is Homemade! Our newest co-host is Allyson from Southern Sunflowers, and she will be choosing the features for the month of May. Everyone shared wonderful home decor, crafts and recipes last week, but only 5 are featured each week. Let’s end the suspense and get to the features and party!

THIS WEEK’S FEATURES!

various handmade crafts

Jenna, from The Painted Apron, upcycled a plastic canister by crafting it in the most amazing way just by using paper and paint. What a gorgeous color combination! She changed her canister from, as she says, “blah to awe!”

Debbie, from Debbees Buzz, hand painted champagne flutes with tropical birds for a wedding gift. I’m sure her gift recipient was thrilled with her artistic talent. Follow her tutorial to see how easily you can hand paint your own glasses!

Last week, Haekelfieber-Austria shared her crocheted chili peppers with us from her “Big Food Series.” These colorful crocheted veggies are absolutely adorable! Follow her series posts as she shares the patterns to make these cuties.

Marsha, from The Little Yellow Corner Store, showed us her collection of seasonal porch decor. Her “bee and sunflower” themed decor she uses for spring really caught my eye. I’m in love with her handmade sunflower pillow!

Ann, from The Apple Street Cottage, has the perfect craft for us to make for the special women in our lives for Mother’s Day ~ Homemade Lavender Soap. I can smell the lavender by just looking at her photo and check out that beautiful gift presentation!
