Happiness is Homemade Link Party #414

Welcome to Happiness is Homemade Link Party! I’m so glad you’re here to join us in sharing and being inspired by blog posts from around the world. Katie from My Messy Messy Mess is our hostess choosing the features for the month of February. After you share here, don’t forget to go link up on Crafty Creators Link Party. Before we get to this week’s party, let me share what’s been going on here on the blog.

Last Sunday I joined up with a few lovely ladies for our monthly DIY Blog Hop. This month’s theme was “bedroom projects,” and I created two sets of free printable wall art that is perfect for the bedroom since I used scriptures from Song of Solomon. I created a more formal set and one that is a bit more laid back, so you can choose the set that best fits your bedroom theme. I framed mine and placed them under the gallery wall filled with our wedding pictures and memorabilia.

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day and if you don’t already have your teacher’s, friend’s, daughter’s, etc. gifts yet, I’ve got your back! First I created printables for son’s teachers’ gifts, and in that post you can download those gift tags for free. I also shared the link to the “print then cut” design for Design Space there. In another post I changed up the gift tags a bit to say “Happy Galentine’s Day” and changed the size and colors a bit. I also added pictures to show how to fold and glue the DIY gift boxes together.

Last week I shared the DIY tea towel along with the free SVG on it. This week I made a DIY tea towel ladder from Dollar Tree wood. It turned out so cute! Check out the post for the tutorial along with projects by six other wonderful bloggers that can be made for under $10!

This Week’s Features

Living in Western New York, we are very proud of buffalo chicken (or chicken buffalo?) style food ranging from chicken wings to wraps.  These Chicken Buffalo Meatballs from Organized Island look so tasty – I think I’ll try making them for dinner next week!

I’ve always wanted to try making a king cake for Fat Tuesday- it’s a tradition to serve these at Mardi Gras.  So colorful and easy to make, this easy king cake recipe is quick and simple without all the fuss. Don’t forget the baby! (*Note from Niki- I am from the Coast so I know Mardi Gras. I’ve never tried to make a king cake, but if you want an amazing king cake (and don’t want to make one or aren’t proficient in baking ((me!)), you need to order one from Paul’s King Cakes in Long Beach, MS. If you can that is. They sell out in seconds when they get in any at our local mom & pop stores. They sell some on their website I believe. If they don’t still do that, find someone from the Coast of LA, MS, or AL and beg them to ship you one. They’re amazing, and you’ll beg, steal, and cheat to get you one every year for the rest of your life!)

Do you have a Blackstone grill? Essentially it is a portable (or somewhat lol) giant cast iron grill. We purchased one to take camping with us last summer and love it! I’m always looking for new recipes to make on it, and this one for Blackstone Mexican Street Corn looks right up our alley.

Quite simply, I chose this post for Oreo Butter Cake because it just looked darn good. My baking extravaganza continues through the winter, and I’ll be trying this! 100%!

*BONUS FEATURE*

Within the last 10 years we have seen a huge increase of the bald eagle population in Western New York.  We most commonly see them while we are camping during the summer at parks located near water such as Lake Erie State Park or Evangola State Park.  It’s incredible to think that when I was little, these animals were supposed to be extinct, and I just assumed I’d never see one.  And now we see them all the time!  Check out this informative post Where Eagles Soar from Mille Fiori Favoriti.

Since tomorrow is Valentine’s Day, a day of love, I thought this scripture would be appropriate this Sunday. My love goes out to all of you!

For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
