You’re the Star Link Party & Blog Hop: Creative Features Week

I’m so glad you’re here to share and be inspired by all of the wonderful family-friendly posts from bloggers across the world here on You’re the Star link party! I will now be choosing a few additional features of my own from the wonderful posts shared here on You’re the Star Blog Hop. If you’d like your post to be featured here on Life as a LEO Wife, leave me a comment letting me know that you stopped by to share with me and my readers. I’ll come by, check out your post, and leave you a comment. I’ll be sharing the posts that I choose across my social media accounts. You’re hard work will get the recognition it so richly deserves!

This Week on the Blog

Since I missed posting last week’s You’re the Star link party features, I have a few more posts to share with you. Normally there’s only three since I post on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. I’m not sharing my Halloween post from the week leading up to it. It’s about the at home Halloween movie date night that my husband and I had. If you’d like ideas on at home movie date nights, you can check that post out here.

No Sew Felt Gift Bags

Before we get to the hop, let’s check out what’s been going on here on the blog. First I shared a tutorial for making felt gift bags or pouches. I do not have a sewing machine and can’t sew a straight line by hand to save my life! These gift bags are completely no-sew, so anyone can make them! With Christmas coming up, these are perfect! You can make them, and they are basically a second gift in themselves! They can be used over and over and won’t rip like traditional gift bags.

Gratitude Pumpkin

Next I shared a gratitude pumpkin tutorial that you can make to create a beautiful new family Thanksgiving tradition. Choose a design or quote that has meaning for you or one you like the look of. You can use a Cricut, stencil, or this tutorial for transferring a design using a printer and a pencil to place the design on a pumpkin. On Thanksgiving your family and friends can write what they are thankful for that year. Once you’re finished, place the pumpkin to your dinner table centerpiece. You can create a new one every year to have a collection and reminders of the blessings you’ve had over the years. I added the year to the back of this pumpkin. If you’d rather, you can add to the same one over the years until it’s too full to write on.

DIY Scroll Wall Hanging

I don’t have many decorations that are specifically for Thanksgiving, so when I saw some scroll wall hangings, I knew I wanted one for it. However the scrolls that I came across were either $50 on Etsy or $30-$70 for ones that are flat at the top and bottom. Have you ever seen a scroll read from on movies that’s got a flat wood piece on each end? No- they roll up. So I decided to figure out how to make one myself. In this scroll wall hanging tutorial I show you how to make a beautiful scroll to add to your home decor. I plan to make more for every season to hang where this one is now! By the way, I made this one for $3 that’s exactly like the ones selling for $50 on Etsy!

Dollar Tree Christmas Sign Tutorial

Now that it’s November, it’s time to start making the Christmas decor that you’ll be putting out sooner than you know it. Our guest bathroom is decorated in blue and silver with snowflakes at Christmas. I don’t have a Christmas shower curtain for my master bathroom, and this year isn’t the year for us to spend extra money on decorating a bathroom that not everyone will see. So I decided to use the colors that I already have in there and make decorations to fit. My bathroom is blush pink, gold, and white, so I used a Dollar Tree sign and the word “peace” made of wood to make a beautiful piece of Christmas wall art. The great thing about this piece and the tutorial is that you can customize it to fit into your Christmas decor. You’ll love it!

I asked about it on Tuesday, but didn’t see her reply until Thursday because we’re having major problems with our little Morkie Bella. You can find out more about that on this week’s Happiness is Homemade when you submit your posts.
