Welcome to Happiness is Homemade Link Party! For the month of November, Beverly from Eclectic Red Barn will be choosing our features. As always, I will be choosing one feature of my own. Comment and let me know what you’re sharing so that I can come by and visit and to possibly be featured! Before we get to the features, let me share what’s been going on this week on the blog.
By the way if you come by and share on Traffic Jam Weekend, Kimberly from Being a Wordsmith took this week off. We will be back on schedule this coming week. I’m sorry, but I didn’t know about this until the day before. It’s been a crazy week for me, so I didn’t make a separate post about this. If you missed my Tuesday post, I’ve added the reason for my absence at the end of the post including what’s going on with our dog Bella is doing now. Some of you have asked, and I wanted to let you know what’s happened with that situation.
Scroll Wall Hanging
I’ve seen several scroll wall hangings on websites lately. At least they call them scrolls, but they’re more like wall hangings with a wood bar at the top and bottom. I wanted an actual old school scroll look to hang for Thanksgiving, so I came up with this tutorial. You can make it to use year round or add a design for a specific holiday or season like I did. I really love the way it turned out!
Dollar Tree Christmas Sign
It’s November which means it’s time to make all the Christmas decor I can! My local Dollar Tree didn’t have much of their Christmas items unboxed yet, but I did find some wood words. I used the word “peace” to make a pink and gold sign for my master bathroom. It turned out beautifully, and one would never guess that you can make it for about $3!

Now on to the Link Party!
Halloween is over, and we are moving onto Thanksgiving (if you celebrate it). That usually means great recipes, lovely table settings, decor and pumpkin ideas. With that in mind, I picked some fall and Thanksgiving ideas.
This time of year we need to give thanks and what could better that a printed Give Thanks image. More importantly it is free for you to download. Stop by Comfort Spring Station to get yours.
Lisa, over at Fresh Vintage by Lisa, always comes up with such wonderful and creative ideas. These succulent pumpkins would look so wonderful on your table or anywhere. Check how Lisa created these lovely pumpkins.
How could you not want these special Turkey Glasses party favors. Debbee will show you how you can create these adorable glasses for your table too. stop by Debbee’s Buzz and see how.
I love it when you can use one item for many seasons and that is just what Mary Jo shows us about how she decorates her wooden dough bowl. Check how she styles it for many seasons at Master Pieces of My Life.
Niki’s Feature
How cute is this Thanksgiving tablescape from Whispers of the Heart?! I had to choose this as my feature because I have the little turkey candleholders but mine are copper. This gives me so many ideas for my everyday November tablescape. So many adorable turkeys!

Bella & Our Crazy Week

Normally I post on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, but this week my son got a stomach bug and our little Morkie Bella is very ill. She needs constant care right now due to many, many seizures a day and what the vet thinks might be a liver shunt. She said that’s very odd because Bella turns 5 this month, and normally they get very sick very young because their liver isn’t filtering their blood and the proteins from their food. One sign that it could still be a liver shunt is that dogs with it tend to be very small. She is 3.8lbs, so yea, she’s very small. I feel like it should have another name than “liver shunt.” A shunt is usually what they put in your body, and not the name of the disease or disorder, but that’s what the vet paperwork says, so that’s what I’m saying. It could also be a brain lesion, but there’s no way to tell without an MRI. Since my medical bills are over $2,000,000 and I can’t work outside of the home or work for someone other than myself because I go in and out of the hospital (thank you for reading this because it’s my source of income! Love you guys! Spread the word about me if you can!), we can’t afford to get anymore tests for her. Spending $560 at the vet takes away a huge chunk of Christmas, but my son was willing to forego some gifts to get Bella care. He’s so sweet! Her blood work indicated that there is something wrong with her liver and gallbladder, but the vet said there’s no way to be sure, that she’d put her on some liver and seizure meds and see what happens. She does seem to be improving. She was having seizure after seizure and not moving at all. I didn’t want to put her down, but then again I did because it was heart wrenching. At one point she didn’t sit down for 8 hours! Her stomach hurt that bad I guess. When she did lay down she didn’t move except to have grand mal seizures. The seizures even scared the vet staff. They are horrendous to watch. She’s now down to one to three a day and she’s moving again and back to following me around the house. I’m thinking it is her liver then, but the bad news is that the info pack they gave me said owners usually have to euthanize their pets who have this condition eventually because they become so miserable and are suffering. If anyone has any info or experience with this, please leave me a comment or a message on social media. I would love to know more about it.
