Happiness is Homemade #381

Welcome back to our lovely link party! I am glad you have found your way to us. Katie from Love My Messy Messy Mess is still choosing our features this week. Next week we will have a new blogger choosing for us. This week I will be choosing one of my own features in addition to Katie’s.

Before we get to the party, I’d like to share a post from my blog this week. Just before Memorial Day I found some dinner and salad plates in red, white, and blue from Belk. I needed a centerpiece to go with the tablescape, so I created one from Dollar Tree items. I love how it turned out. Here’s the tutorial, and when you make your own, make sure you tag me on social media! You can leave this decor piece out from May to September which is great.

On to the Party!

This is my last hostessing gig for the month, but I had a great time picking features. I hope you liked them too!

If you want to follow along my crazy journey of messy fails and tidy victories, look for me on Instagram or Facebook.

We are headed out camping with friends this weekend which we are very much looking forward to.  I’ll let you know how all of the food goes!

This Week’s Features

Sweet potato fries are my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE (and I am a french fry expert, just sayin’) so here’s a recipe so you can make your own. Do you like to eat yours with honey OR maple syrup?

Did I mention that not only do I love sweet potato fries BUT I also love s’mores.  It’s our camping dessert of choice!  Check out this cute and easy recipe for 4th of July S’mores Bars from Crystal & Co. – totes adorable!

OMG this Flag Layer Cake for the 4th of July has me like WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!   I think I can make this, wish me luck!  Click the link to check out the author’s other pictures of this patriotic masterpiece.

And since I didn’t think there was enough good being featured, this Creamy Butterscotch Meringue Pie had be absolutely DROOLING!  I guess this is an older recipe (says the author) and I know that classics stick around for a reason.

*BONUS FEATURE*

Pineapple Coconut Popsicles

One more food feature – and this one is the super special BONUS feature – I love a cold frosty popsicle in the summer time.  I even have a set of popsicle molds for making my own, so I’ll be trying this Coconut Pineapple Popsicle recipe next!

Niki’s Feature

Ok- I am not ashamed to say that I do not enjoy cooking. I do it to feed my family. I do try different recipes occasionally, maybe one or two a month. Mostly I stick to what I know my family likes. So of course I had to choose a feature that’s not in the food category, because we have so many this week. I chose these absolutely adorable Patriotic USA houses that Beth from Creatively Beth made. When I read that they are budget-friendly I was even more in love! I had been thinking about making a version of them for a while, on blocks, and she lit the fire for me to get it done. They will be on the blog very soon, so check back often. Better yet, enter your email address in the subscribe box on the sidebar or at the bottom of the page so that you get an email every time I upload a new post. You’ll never miss a thing, and you will never get spam mail!

Three small basic house shaped wood pieces. One painted red with a "U" on it, white with "S", and blue with "A." Each house has what looks like a metal roof and twine wrapped bottoms with a glitter silver star attached.
