Happiness is Homemade #378

Hey ladies and gents! Welcome back to Happiness is Homemade! During the month of June, Katie from Messy Messy Mess will be choosing our features. I will still be choosing my favorite which will be listed below Katie’s. Before we get to those, I’d like to share a few of my posts from this past week!

My son is headed off to summer camp with our church youth group this week. So over the past week I’ve shared with you ideas to help prepare you for the drop off! This is my first year sending a child to camp, so I’ve spent a lot of time trying to make sure I have everything packed that he’ll need while he’s away. I created this post with free printable checklists, one for boys and one for girls, to help you make sure everything is packed. Next I made these DIY summer camp autographed pillowcases that our kids can take with them and have their new camp friends sign them. In the post I shared with you the design to create your own! Finally this post is full of ideas and free printables to make the perfect summer camp care package to send to your kids at camp! These packages turned out great, and your kids will love them. These gifts are great to send to kids not at camp as well; send them to grandchildren, friends, nieces, nephews, etc!

Now on to our features!

Welcome to Happiness Is Homemade Link Party #378 – it’s June and summer is here!!

My name is Katie and I am hosting this month, you can also check out my blog Love My Messy Messy Mess where I share my messy messes and tidy victories in my journey as a working boy mom and wife.  You can also follow me on Instagram @LoveMyMessyMessyMess and Facebook at Love My Mess.

As a public school teacher we are wrapping up our end-of-school activities and getting ready for summer break.  We are going to spend lots of time outside in our gardens (my husband has a decent size pumpkin patch going!), camping and enjoying the warm weather.  What are you up to this summer?

Let me tell you how hard it was to pick just four of my favorite posts from last week’s party, so I added an honorable mention, too!

This Week’s Features

I love adding nature elements for decor in our house.  I think these simple Wood Scraps to Drink Coasters by Maya of The Little Treasures make for a great touch and fun project.  These would also make a great hostess or house warming gift!

I am always looking for new inspiration in creating our fairy garden and I certainly found it there!  Debbie of Debbie-Dabble Blog came up with some adorable little set ups in her blog post Fairy & Gnome Gardens in the Patio, and I am already designing one using some of her ideas.  There is just something so fun and whimsical about a fairy or gnome garden!

Being in a farmhouse I have a great appreciation for the look of some festive bunting.  This  DIY Patriotic Picket Fence Bunting from Tiffany at TeeDiddlyDee looks so darling and super sturdy for our crazy weather here.

Did I mention I’m about 5 months pregnant??? Oh YEAH I am five months pregnant :D. I’m all about refreshing fruity drinks in this pregnancy and my mouth INSTANTLY began to water when I saw this post.  So obvi I had to pick it as a feature – thanks Raquel of Organized Island for sharing this recipe for Strawberry Iced Tea with us!

*BONUS FEATURE*

Another note on this pregnancy – I am all about the flavored chicken wings!!!!  I am a Western New York girl born and raised, so I know good chicken wings when I see them.  This recipe for Hawaiian Style Chicken Wings is definitely a good one and is on my menu for a meal this summer!

Niki’s Fav Feature

Beth from Whispers of the Heart shared a post of six different red, white, and blue tablescapes. They are adorable. I recently bought two sets of plates and bowls in red, white, and blue that I am planning to use in tablescapes this summer. She has given me some very cute ideas. The picture above is just one of the tablescapes that she shares in this post. You have to check them all out!
